Announcement of RICOH GR IV Development

RICOH IMAGING COMPANY, LTD. proudly announces the development of the RICOH GR IV, the newest addition to its acclaimed GR-series of premium compact cameras.

PARIS, May 22, 2025 — RICOH IMAGING COMPANY, LTD. is excited to unveil that the RICOH GR IV is currently in development. This forthcoming model will expand the renowned GR-series, known for its high-end compact cameras.

With a legacy spanning nearly 30 years — beginning with the launch of the RICOH GR1 film camera in 1996, and followed by the digital GR DIGITAL in 2005 — the GR line has consistently embodied the core principles of photography: exceptional image quality, swift operation, and ease of portability. The series has continuously evolved to incorporate features that address the changing needs of photographers, earning it a dedicated following among professionals and advanced enthusiasts alike.

The RICOH GR IV stays true to the GR philosophy while introducing a suite of entirely new components. These include a re-engineered lens, a state-of-the-art image sensor, and an upgraded image processor — all designed to deliver superior imaging performance. In addition, it will offer enhanced connectivity features, supported by a new dedicated app for smart devices, aimed at boosting usability and functionality.

Alongside the GR IV, another variant equipped with the HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter) is also in development, expanding the creative options available to users.

Conceived as the ultimate tool for street and snapshot photography, the RICOH GR IV promises to be a groundbreaking addition to the GR family, built to meet the high expectations of discerning photographers.

Note: A prototype of the GR IV’s exterior design will be showcased at GR SPACE venues in Tokyo, Beijing, and Shanghai starting Saturday, May 31, 2025.

Additionally, due to challenges in sourcing certain components, production and distribution of the current RICOH GR III will cease in July 2025. However, the RICOH GR IIIx will remain available for the foreseeable future.
