With a focal length of approx. 61 mm, equivalent to 35 mm full frame, this lens has been specially designed for digital SLR cameras whose image circle has been adapted to the APS-C format of the image sensor (23.5 mm × 15.7 mm) to achieve a significantly more compact and lightweight design with an excellent price-performance ratio compared to 35 mm format SLR cameras with interchangeable lenses and the same specifications.
Thanks to its mobility and handling, it is ideal for snapshots. The angle of view corresponds to the slight telephoto range and allows you to capture the desired subject from a reasonable distance.
This lens allows for comfortable photography and is ideal as a standard lens for people who are often on the go with their camera. It is very well suited for landscape photography and a variety of other subjects, while the maximum aperture of 2.8 is ideal for snapshots, portraits and indoor photography.

The design is based on the numerical evaluation of high resolutions and low aberration by various testing instruments and also incorporates advanced evaluation using actual images. The result is a certain "lens flavor" that carries on the concept of the PENTAX Limited series and that enables you to enjoy impressive rendering of your digital images.

New HD coating

This lens uses the new-generation multicoating "HD Coating" that reduces the reflection rate in the visible spectrum up to 50% or more than conventional multicoating. This enables the reduction of flare and ghosting for the shooting of clear, high-contrast images even under backlighting and other adverse conditions.

Lens Hood included

In addition to a variety of features, such as our unique HD-multi-coating and the prevention of reflections in the lens barrel, a special lens hood is included with this PENTAX lens to minimise ghosting and flare that occurs in backlit and other adverse conditions. As such, the lens hood is an integral part of the optical system and should always be used when using the lens.
The total lens length does not change even if a 30.5mm filter is attached to the the hood. A 49mm filter can also be attached directly to the lens.

A PENTAX-original special coating that provides superior performance inrepelling water and oils. It is used on the front surface of the firsthigh-performance lens for effective protection of the lens surface. This coating not only prevents adhesion of dust, water drops, oils, and other substances, but it also makes it easy to wipe off objects that adhere to the lens.

Featuring a completely round-shaped diaphragm to optimise the performance of their distinctive optics. This diaphragm produces a natural, beautiful bokeh (out-of-focus) effect, while minimizing the streaking effect of point lightsources.

Quick-Shift Focus System
After focusing using the autofocus, the focus ring can be turned to allow immediate focus adjustment using the manual focus. This feature enables smooth operability by eliminating the need for an AF/MF switching operation. This is useful during closeup photography, for instance ,when you want to shoot while making fine adjustments to the focus

PENTAX K Mount

The lens mounts for PENTAX interchangeable lenses are based on the bayonet K mount, which has remained unchanged since its inception in 1975. It is a mount unique to PENTAX that features a large aperture combined with superior ease of replacement, accuracy, and toughness. These features are utilized to comfortably incorporate an iris control mechanism, autofocus mechanism, and other functions for enabling nearly complete compatibility with conventional lenses.
